Insufficient heat output from heat exchanger may be
caused by:
•
Airlock in heat exchanger - (ISOLATE FROM ELECTRICAL
SUPPLY). Remove the case and bleed the appliance as outlined
in the ‘Water Connections’.
•
Hot water temperature too low - the boiler thermostat may need
increasing.
•
Bulk of the water circulating through the radiators - rebalance
by closing back lockshield valves on radiators to increase water
flow through the Mirage Log.
•
Dirty heat exchanger.
Operation
With the fire in position the controls are located on the upper right-hand
side of the appliance.
Flame Effect
Press ‘Switch 1’ to ’
’. The flame effect should now operate - see
Fig. 7
.
Electric Heating Unit
You have a choice of low heat (1.0kW) or high heat (2.0kW) output. In
order to operate the fan heater, ‘Switch 1’ must be switched on.
Low heat setting
Press ‘Switch 2‘ to ‘
I
’ and ‘Switch 1‘ to ‘
’ position. The flame effect will
remain on and you will have selected the low heat setting.
High heat setting
Press ‘Switch 3‘ to ‘
II
’ and ‘Switch 2‘ to ‘
I
’ and ‘Switch 1‘ to ‘
’ position.
The flame effect and low heat setting will remain on and you will have
selected the high heat setting.
Setting the Thermostat
Plug in and with Switches 1, 2 and 3 on, turn the thermostat knob to
MAX to warm the room rapidly. When the room temperature has reached
the desired level, turn the thermostat knob back slowly until the
thermostat just clicks off. The heater will then maintain the room
temperature at the chosen level.
NOTE
– Should your heater fail to come on when the thermostat is at a
low setting, this may be due to the room temperature being higher than
the thermostat setting.
Safety cut-out
For your safety, this appliance has been fitted with a thermal cut-out. In
the event that the product overheats, the cut-out switches the heat off
automatically.
To bring the heat back into operation, remove the cause of the
overheating, then unplug or turn off the electrical supply to the heater
for up to 10 minutes.
When the heater has cooled sufficiently, re-connect and switch on the
heater.
Heat Exchanger Unit
To operate the heat exchanger follow the instructions previously
described in ‘Commissioning the Heat Exchanger’.
To vary the heat output from the heat exchanger, use the fan speed
control knob to increase or decrease the speed of the fan.
Note: Both heat sources (electric heater and heat exchanger) can
be operational at the same time.
Maintenance
WARNING – ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY
BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY MAINTENANCE.
Lamp Replacement
To gain access to the lamps
;
1.
Open the door.
2.
Remove the two screws on the fuel effect - see ‘x’ in
Fig. 5
.
3.
Slide the fuel effect out and set aside carefully (taking care not
to damage the logs as they are fragile).
4.
For access to the bulbs, carefully rotate the flexible rotisserie
out of position ensuring that the rubber grommet is not lost –
see ‘y’ in
Fig. 6
.
5.
Refit the rotisserie making sure that the rubber grommet is
carefully pushed into the slotted hole on the axial bracket - see
Fig.

6.
Unscrew the defective lamp as indicated. Replace with a 60W
E14 SES lamp, do not over tighten - see
Fig. 6
.
7.
Refit the fuel effect with the two screws.
Cleaning
Before commencing cleaning, unplug the heater and allow it to cool.
The surfaces of the heater should be given an occasional wipe over
with a soft damp cloth. Do not use detergents, abrasive cleaning powder
or polish on the body of the heater.
The viewing screens should be cleaned carefully with a chamois leather.
DO NOT use proprietory glass cleaners.
To remove any accumulation of dust or fluff the soft brush attachment of
a vacuum cleaner should occasionally be used to clean the outlet grille
of the fan heater.

Your product is guaranteed for one year from the date of purchase.
Within this period, we undertake to repair or exchange this product free
of charge (excluding lamps and subject to availability) provided it has
been installed and operated in accordance with these instructions.
Your rights under this guarantee are additional to your statutory rights,
which in turn are not affected by this guarantee.
