Speed Link Between Switches
The most common LAN implementations use a combination of standard repeater hubs,
bridges, and routers. The bridges and routers quickly become bottlenecks, reducing overall
network throughput. Switching to higher speed LANs, such as FDDI or ATM, is not a good
choice for most people. Besides being very expensive, you have to replace all existing
Ethernet cable and adapters, restructure your network, then implement more expensive
administration procedures.
