10. Using Console Commands
You are at console mode when you see the console
prompt (>>>). The following are basic commands
you can use at the console prompt. For more ad-
vanced commands, see the DEC 3000 Model 300

Command Function
boot
Starts the operating system
from a specified device. For
example, to start software from
a fixed disk on an OpenVMS
AXP system:
boot dka 300
help
Displays a list of commands,
advanced
parameters, and qualifiers
set
Defines the keyboard language.
language
The default language is
English. For example, this
command defines the language
as Italian:
set language 9
show device
Displays SCSI and Ethernet
device information.
show
Displays the default boot
boot_def_dev
device or device list from
which booting will next be
attempted.
show mem
Displays memory information,
such as bank number, memory
size, and starting address.
