Upgrade Procedure
Step 1:
Removing
Options
If you have a DEC 3000 Model 500/500X AXP, refer to the DEC
3000 Model 800/800S/900 AXP Options Guide included with
your upgrade system for information on removing fixed disk
drives, removable media drives, and graphics options.
Mounting
Brackets for
Drives
You need not install the mounting brackets provided in the
upgrade kit. They are identical to the brackets already installed
on your fixed disk drives.
Step 2: Set
SCSI IDs on
Drives
If your DEC 3000 AXP system has a factory-installed disk drive,
it is set to SCSI ID 3. Check the SCSI ID settings you noted
earlier. If one of the drives you are upgrading is also set to SCSI
ID 3, change that setting.
See Appendix A for the SCSI ID drive settings.
