Wiring
The Terminal Strip
The terminal strip is made up of Power, Ground, 4
Button Inputs, one Tach input, and 4 Outputs. The four
Outputs are rated for 12Amps each. If higher currents are
required, an external relay needs to be wired between the
output and the device, page 61.
+12VDC Terminal:
Connect the +12VDC terminal to a
power source capable of supplying enough current to run all
the devices connected to the Mega 475’s outputs at the same
time. In most cases this will either be the Master Cutoff
switch or the Starter Solenoid. Use whichever one is closer
to the Mega 475.
The gauge of the power wire needs to be selected
according to current load. To figure out your total current
load, add up the individual current draw of each device
connected to an output on the Mega 475. Then use the list
below to see what gauge power wire you need.
1-15 Amps 14 gauge
16-25 Amps 12 gauge
26-40 Amps 10 gauge
41-60 Amps 8 gauge
If the power wire is less than 5 feet long you can use the next
size smaller wire. (20 Amps less than 5 feet – use 14 gauge)
If the power wire is more than 10 feet long you need to use
the next size larger wire. (20 Amps more than 10 feet – use
10 gauge)
