4. A DOS console window will open. At the command prompt, type: “ping 192.168.1.1”.
Substitute “192.168.1.1” with the chosen IP address or with one that your network
administrator assigned to you. You should see something similar to the following text listed
for a successful connection.
5. If you were able to successfully ping the Gryphon, then your setup is complete.
6. If the replies do not come back successfully then something is not configured correctly.

A.4 What Ethernet cable should I use?
A null Ethernet cable is provided with the hardware package, for use in a point-to-point configuration
with the PC. This cable connects the hardware’s 1000
T
Ethernet port to the host PC’s Ethernet port.
To connect the hardware to an Ethernet hub or LAN, you will need to use a standard 10
T
cable
instead of the supplied null cable.

Utilities
If the client PC is started up before the hardware and fails to obtain TCP/IP settings by means of
DHCP, you must perform one of the following steps to force re-negotiation of the PC's settings:
