The hardware has predefined default parameter values. If you are using the tool one-to-one with
your PC, these parameters typically do not need to be changed. You
will
need to change these
default parameters, however,
if your PC is not configured as a DHCP Client
,
or if you want to
connect the hardware to a network
.
The following table lists the Gryphon’s default addresses:
Parameter name
Hardware default value
IP (Internet Protocol) Address
192.168. 1 . 1
Netmask 255.255.255.000
Broadcast
192.168. 255 .255
Default Route
192.168. 2 1
Table 1: TCP/IP Settings
Note:
To enable communication with a Gryphon unit at this
Í
address, your PC’s IP
address must be configured to:
192.168.001.002.
Prior to establishing a Gryphon connection with your building's existing LAN, you should contact your
company’s network administrator and coordinate new values for your Gryphon.
3.3 Configuring the IP Address
There are two methods you may use to configure the hardware’s TCP/IP Ethernet parameters:
(1) access the Gryphon’s on-board Web server, and utilize the Gryphon’s Web page, which
includes a configuration tool used to set IP parameters and passwords. The page may
be accessed through any Web browser with network access to the Gryphon unit. Two
browser examples are outlined in this chapter.
Netscape
, a GUI-based browser (see
sections 3.3.1 and 4.1
); and
Lynx
, a text-based browser (see
sections 3.3.1, 4.1 and 4.3.2
)
