P5BVP System Board User’s Manual
2.2.5.6 Universal Serial Bus Ports
The system board is equipped with two headers, at locations J4
and J5 on the system board, for external USB ports. USB allows
data exchange between your computer and a wide range of
simultaneously accessible external Plug and Play peripherals.
You must have the proper drivers installed in your operating
system to use these ports. Refer to your operating system’s
manual or documentation.
Connecting the USB Ports
As an option, one card-edge bracket mounted with two USB port
cables may be provided with the system board. The ends of the
cables are attached to a connector. Connect the USB cable
connector to J4 and J5 on the system board. The USB port cables
can be inserted only if pin 1 of the cable (red wire) is aligned
with pin 1 of J4 and J5. Pin 5 of J5 has been removed and the
hole in the USB cable connector, which corresponds to pin 5, has
been plugged to prevent incorrectly inserting the connector. Mount
the card-edge bracket to the system chassis.
