Built-in Ports

The G586VPS Pro system board is equipped with two serial ports, one

parallel printer port, one FDD connector, two IDE hard disk shrouded

headers and one PS/2 mouse connector. Refer to page 13 for the

locations of the built-in connectors and pin 1 of those connectors.

Serial Ports

The built-in serial ports are RS-232C asynchronous communication

ports with 16C550A-compatible UARTs that can be used with modems,

serial printers, remote display terminals, and other serial devices. They

use the following system I/O addresses:

Connecting the Serial Ports

Two serial port cables, mounted on a card-edge bracket, are provided

with the system board. Connect one serial port cable to connector J14

for the COM A primary serial port and the other serial port cable to
