BURNER FLAME PATTERN
WARNING: If yellow tipping
occurs, your heater could pro
-
duce increased levels of carbon
monoxide.
NOTICE: Do not mistake orange
flames with yellow tipping. Dirt
or other fine particles enter the
heater and burn causing brief
patches of orange flame.
Figure 31, page 21, shows a correct burner
flame pattern. Figure 32, page 21, shows an
incorrect burner flame pattern. The incorrect
burner flame pattern shows yellow tipping of
the flame. It also shows the flame higher than
1/2 the glass panel height.
INSpECTING HEATER
Check pilot flame pattern and burner flame
pattern often.

OPERATING
BLOWER
This heater has a thermostatic blower that will
automatically turn ON or OFF.
Note:
Your heater and thermostat blower will
not turn on and off at the same time. The
heater may run for several minutes before the
blower turns on. After the heater modulates to
the pilot position, the blower will continue to
run. The blower will shut off after the heater
cabinet temperature decreases.
Note:
It is safe to operate heater with blower
turned off. However, the blower helps distrib
-
ute heated air from the heater.
When setting code switches, set A through P
switch on remote control to same setting as
A through P switch on receiver. Then set 1
through 16 switch on remote control to same
setting as 1 through 16 switch on receiver.
Note:
A small screwdriver can be used to
change these code switches.

the thermocouple. This will cause the thermo
-
couple to cool. When the thermocouple cools,
the heater will shut down.
If pilot flame pattern is incorrect, as shown
in Figure 30
• turn heater off (see
To Turn Off Gas to Ap-
pliance
, page 16)
• see
Troubleshooting
, page 22
Note:
The pilot flame on natural gas units will
have a slight curve, but flame should be blue
and have no yellow or orange color.
