OBSERVED PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSE
REMEDY
•
Pilot will not stay lit after
carefully following lighting
instructions.
•
Pilot lit but no flame on the
burner.
•
Frequent pilot outage problem.
•
No gas supply or shut-off valve is
off.
•
Air in gas line.
•
Construction debris clogging pilot
orifice.
•
Low gas pressure.
•
Control valve knob is not on the
“PILOT” position.
•
Kinked pilot line.
•
Bad valve.
•
Bad thermocouple or loose
connection.
•
Wall switch wires defective.
•
Pilot flame maybe too low or
blowing (high) causing the valve
safety to drop out.
•
Check to see if you have gas
supply.
•
Hold regulator control valve in
the “PILOT” position for 2 or 3
minutes to purge air. If you smell
gas, stop and wait for a few
minutes before trying to light the
unit.
•
Remove debris and dirt. Inspect
and clean any other possible
obstructions.
•
Contact your gas supplier.
•
Refer to section on pilot lighting.
•
Have a qualified technician
replace pilot line.
•
Replace regulator valve (Refer to
Replacement Parts List).
•
Tighten thermocouple or replace.
•
Check electrical connections.
•
Clean and/or adjust pilot flame
for maximum flame impingement
on thermocouple.
