Chapter 3

Connecting the USB interface cable

The  PR-700UDM  receives  and  sends  data  from/to  the  host  computer  through  the  USB-COM
interface.  Install  the  USB-COM  Interface  driver  before  connecting  the  USB  interface  cable.
(Refer to Sections 3.2 and 3.3)

Notes for connecting the USB interface cable

To  use  the  USB-COM  interface,  install  a  serial  port  driver  to  the  host  computer  before
connection of the USB interface cable.

When  plugging  and  unplugging  a  USB  device,  allow  an  interval  of  at  least  10  seconds,
which is required to add or delete the USB device.

When a host computer is processing connection with the reader/writer, do not hot plug or
unplug any other USB devices.

Directly  connect  the  reader/writer  to  the  USB  port  on  the  host  computer  or  to  the
self-powered  hub.  Be  aware  that  certain  hubs  may  not  be  compatible  with  the
reader/writer. If the operation is unstable with a hub, unplug the reader/writer from the hub
and connect it directly to any USB port on the host computer.

Do not use an additional extension cable.

The reader/writer may not operate properly even if the requirement is met. It depends
on the hardware and software configuration.

Operation  is  not  guaranteed  on  all  computers  that  meet  the  conditions  of  the
recommended operating environment.

The  reader/writer  may  not  work  properly  with  some  computers  on  standby  or
hibernation.

The reader/writer may not work properly with some power environments.

1.  Place  the  PR-700UDM  on  the
cradle.

3. Use the USB interface cable to connect
to a host computer.

2. Install the USB-COM interface driver.
