SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of
fire, electrical shock and/or personal injury.
1 Read all instructions carefully and retain for future reference.
2 Remove all packaging.
3 Make sure your electricity supply is the same as the one shown on the underside of your kettle.
4 Always use the filter and never overfill - boiling water may splash out.
5 Avoid contact with steam coming out of the spout area when pouring and out of the lid or spout
area when refilling.
6 Beware: the metal body of the kettle will get hot during operation.
7 Caution: Do not operate the kettle on an inclined surface.
8 Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surface.
9 Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or
taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
10 To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse the appliance, cord,
plugs, or powerbase in water or other liquid.
11 Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions,
or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility
for examination, repair or adjustment.
12 Only use the powerbase supplied and keep it clean and dry.
13 Make sure the lid is secure before switching the kettle on.
14 Take care when opening the lid - droplets of hot water may be ejected.
15 Make sure the kettle is switched off before lifting or pouring.
16 Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the heating cycles.
17 Remove the kettle from the base before filling or pouring.
18 Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
19 Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
20 The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in
fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
21 Do not use outdoors.
22 To disconnect, turn any control to ”off”, then remove plug from wall outlet.
23 This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sen-
sory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their
safety.
24 Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
25 This kettle is for boiling water only.
26 Only use the appliance for its intended domestic use. DeLonghi will not accept any liability if the
appliance is subject to improper use, or failure to comply with these instructions.
Before using for the first time
27 Wrap any excess cord around the bracket on the underside of the powerbase (8).
28 Fill to ‘MAX’, boil, then pour the water away. Repeat 2 to 3 times.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A short power cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from entanglement or tripping over
a longer cord. Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
If a extension cord is used (1) the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at
least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and (2) the longer cord should be arran-
ged so that it will not drape over the countertop or table top where it can be pulled on by chil-
dren or tripped over unintentionally. The electrical rating of the appliance is listed on the bot-
tom of the unit. The appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a groun-
ded type 3 wire cord.
