Setting Up Your Mini 5 Device
Turning On Your Device
NOTE:
Please use this device in an environmental temperature between -10 °C and
55 °C.

Press and hold the Power button
. The operating system starts up.

Touch the Menu button to unlock the screen if it is automatically
locked.

If your SIM card is locked by a Personal Identification Number (PIN), type
the PIN by touching the corresponding number keys using the on-screen
keypad. Touch the
OK
button to confirm your input.

The device is ready for use when the home screen is displayed.
Setting Up Your Google Account
After you turn on the phone for the first time, you are given the option to sign
in to your Google Account. You need to sign in to a Google account to use
Google applications and services such as Google Talk, Gmail, and Android
Market. Signing in to your Google account also synchronizes all e-mails and
contacts on your Google account with your device.

Touch the Android image in the center of the screen.

Touch the
Begin
button to view the tutorial about using the on-screen
keyboard and setting up a Google account; touch the
Skip
button to skip
the tutorial and proceed with the next step.

Touch the
Sign in
button. Enter your Google user name and password,
then touch the
Sign in
button.
NOTE:
Signing in to your Google Account requires an Internet connection. Ensure
that your device has an active Wi-Fi or mobile data connection (GPRS, EDGE, 3G, or
HSPA) before you sign in. See
for more information on how to
set up a data connection.
NOTE:
Touch the Create button if you do not have a Google Account.
NOTE:
Touch the Skip button if you prefer to set up your account at a later time and
start using the device. If you choose not to sign in to your Google Account, you will
not be able to use the services and applications that require signing in to your
Google account, such as Google Talk, Gmail, and Android Market.
