3. REPAIRS (F)
3.1 Loss of pressure
If your canoe appears deflated, this is not necessarily because of a leak.If you inflated your canoe during the day at an ambient temperature of 32°C, the tempera-
ture could go down to 25°C in the evening. The colder air then exerts less pressure on the canoe and it may appear more deflated the next morning..
If temperature variation does not explain the loss of pressure, identify the source of the leak by putting soapy water on your canoe to locate the leak.
a.Case 1: leak around the valve (*17)
1- Deflate the canoe completely.
2- Firmly hold the inner part of the valve through the bottom layer of the wall.
3- Insert the tightening wrench into the outer part of the valve.
4- Turn the wrench clockwise until it is completely watertight..
b.Case 2: leak inside the valve
1- Deflate the canoe completely.
2- The valve body is probably broken, in which case please go to a DECATHLON store to get it repaired.
c.Case 3: puncture on the canoe’s surface (*18)
1- Locate the leak.
2- Deflate the canoe completely.
3- Clean and dry the area to be repaired with a cloth..
4 Take a piece of laminated fabric from the repair kit supplied with the canoe.
-Cut the fabric according to the area to be repaired, taking care to round off the corners.
-Apply a glue for ‘’soft PVC’’ according to the glue’s assembly instructions.
5- Hold the patch firmly in place for 30 seconds. A weight can help compress the patch.
6- Allow it to dry for 12 hours before re-inflating the canoe and checking the quality of your repair.
