1.3 Precautions
In the following cases it is recommended to consult a doctor and to use the electro stimu-
lator under his observation:
1. Use of the neuromuscular stimulation for pain relief by patients with pain syndroms
to determine the cause of disease. Especially if there is no pain relief within a few
days after beginning the pain therapy;
2. Application of electrodes on the face;
3. near metallic implants and internal fixators (Prosthesis, osteosynthesis material,
spirals, screws, plates);
4.
Patients with Parkinson’s disease because of possible changes in the sensation
level;
5.
while suspected or identified pregnancy the stimulation is allowed to be done only in
peripheral areas such as legs and arms;
6.
Applications of electrodes in areas of tendon and muscle injuries;
7.
Patients with spastic paralysis.
During the application of electrodes the following points have to be considered:
1.
It is not allowed to put on the eyes.
2.
It is not allowed to use directly in sensitive areas such as the middle part of the
chest, in groin or armpit area.
3.
The heart muscle is not allowed to lie between the plus and minus pole, that means
near the heart it is not allowed to put an electrode in front at the upper body and at
the same time behind at the back.
1.4 Special notices
1.
It is not allowed to use the electro stimulator after a big meal. Because of the in-
creased blood flow into another area of the body the digestive process can be ex-
tended.
2.
If during the treatment symptoms of tachycardia or extrasystoles should occur or if
the stimulation is not tolerated, the treatment should be stopped.
3.
It is possible that at the end of the application a slight redness appears at the place
where the electrodes where used or that some capillaries rupture. In this case it is
recommended to use a lighter program or a lower intensity of stimulation.
