Do not cut the grommet openings wider than what is necessary for the used cables.

If the grommet folds in when putting the cable, pull the cable back to make the grommet straight.

Pull the first bit of the cable out of the grommet so that it stays straight. If this is not possible, make the connection tight with
some insulation tape or a cable tie.
