3. D6 Firmware update
Note:
A firmware update erases all user settings of the device. The device
name and the log files are kept.
The operating software – firmware – can be updated in two different
ways.
1.
Firmware update of a single amplifier via serial interface using the
dbUpdate software program.
2.
Firmware update of multiple amplifiers via the d&b Remote network
(CAN-Bus) using the R10 Service software.
In addition, the d&b Firmware Installer is required.
All required software packages can be downloaded from the d&b
website at:
www.dbaudio.com
.
3.1
Firmware Installer
The Firmware Installer is a software program used to archive the
firmware files for the d&b amplifiers to a desired directory on your
computer. During the update procedure these firmware files are
accessed either by D6-D12-dbUpdate or R10.

D6 Firmware update via D6-D12-dbUpdate
D6-D12-dbUpdate is a control software for loading new firmware
and/or loudspeaker setups onto the D6 amplifier.
D6 SERVICE connector (USB type B)

SERVICE connector on the rear panel of the D6 using a standard USB
cable (connector type A to B).

D12 Firmware update via CAN-Bus and R10
Using the d&b Remote network and the R10 Service software a
firmware update can be carried out via CAN-Bus. R10 allows to update
the firmware of multiple devices connected to the network at one time.
Notes:
For further information on R10 and the firmware update via CAN-Bus
please refer to the R10 manual.
A detailed description of remote control via CAN-Bus is given in the
technical information TI 312 (d&b code D5312.E.).
