Electrical Installation

2.2  Lifting the Displays

Daktronics assumes no liability for display damage or injury resulting from
incorrect setup or incorrect lifting methods.

Eyebolts are intended for lifting during installation only. Do not attempt to
permanently support the display by the eyebolts.

While DataMaster outdoor digit displays are designed for pole mounting, every installation
will be different. Actual site demands will dictate the appropriate mounting method.

Daktronics strongly recommends using a spreader or lifting bar to lift the display. Using a
spreader bar ensures that the force on the eyebolts is straight up, minimizing lifting stress.

Figure 6

illustrates the correct and incorrect lifting methods.

Figure 6: Lifting the Display

Eyebolts may be removed once the display is in place. Replace the eyebolts with 1/2"-13
bolts.

2.3  Mounting Displays

Mechanical installation consists of mounting the
display onto horizontal supports using the
mounting clips provided on the back of the
display. Refer to

Drawing A-320125.

Figure 7: Location of Mounting Clips

To install each display, follow these steps:

1.

Consult the

Shop Drawings

 for each

display size and type

for the location of

clip angles. These drawings are included
in

Appendix A

.

2.

Provide an adequate support structure to hold the display after installation. Display
weights are provided in the

Shop Drawing

.

3.

Weld the clip angles to the horizontal support beam.

4.

If the eyebolts are removed after mounting, plug the holes by inserting 1/2"-13 bolts
(not provided).

5.

Route power and signal wires to the back of each display. (Do not connect them yet.)
Consult

Section 3

for power and signal connections.
