1.1 How the detector works
The smoke and heat detector is designed to protect the private areas of apartment buildings,
residential properties and mobile homes.
It has two types of detection: smoke detection and heat detection.
Smoke detection is especially suitable for detecting slow-starting fires that can smoulder for many
hours before catching alight.
The heat detection function is designed more for detecting fires that start quickly or relatively quickly
and in places where an optical smoke detector cannot be used:
• in a kitchen where cooking fumes can be given off,
• in uninhabited areas that can be very smoky or dusty (e.g. garages).
The heat detection function triggers an alarm depending on the temperature rise speed (according to
standard EN 54-5):
