Charging with refrigerant

6.

If the total length of the indoor unit connection pipe exceeds 30m, charge the pipe with an additional 20g of refrigerant per 1m.

•

NOTE

The length of the water heater connection pipe has no effect.

•

   CAUTION

Even though the stop valve is fully closed, the refrigerant may slowly leak out; do not leave the

fl

are nut removed for a long period of time.

•

Refrigerant piping work

7.

Cautions on pipe handling

Protect the open end of the pipe against dust and moisture.

1)

All pipe bends should be as gentle as possible. Use a pipe bender for bending.

2)

Selection of copper and heat insulation materials

When using commercial copper pipes and

fi

 ttings, observe the following:

Insulation material: Polyethylene foam

1)

Heat transfer rate: 0.041 to 0.052W/mK (0.035 to 0.045kcal/mh°C)

Refrigerant gas pipe’s surface temperature reaches 110°C max.

Choose heat insulation materials that will withstand this temperature.

2)  Insulate the gas pipe, liquid pipe, and water heater connecting pipe in accordance

with the following insulation material measurements. Also ensure that the

E

 joint pipe

connected to the outdoor unit is covered with heat insulation material.

Gas pipe

O.D.: 6.4mm, 9.5mm, 12.7mm / Thickness: 0.8mm (C1220T-O)

O.D.: 15.9mm / Thickness: 1.0mm (C1220T-O)

Liquid pipe

O.D.: 6.4mm / Thickness: 0.8mm (C1220T-O)

Water heater

connecting pipe

O.D.: 12.7mm / Thickness: 0.8mm (C1220T-O)

Gas pipe insulation

Thickness:19mm

Liquid pipe insulation

Thickness:13mm

Water heater connecting pipe insulation Thickness:19mm

Minimum bend radius

O.D.: 6.4mm, 9.5mm / 30mm or more

O.D.: 12.7mm / 40mm or more

O.D.: 15.9mm / 50mm or more

Separate and individually insulate the gas pipe, liquid pipe, water heater supply pipe, and water heater discharge pipe.

3)

Flaring the pipe end

8.

Cut the pipe end with a pipe cutter.

1)

Remove burrs with the cut surface facing downward so that the chips do not enter the pipe.

2)

Put the

fl

 are nut on the pipe.

3)

Flare the pipe.

4)

Check that the

fl

 aring is properly made.

5)

(Cut exactly at

right angles.)

Remove burrs.

Flare’s inner

surface must

be flaw-free.

The pipe end must be evenly

flared in a perfect circle.
Make sure that the

flare nut is fitted.

Check

   WARNING

Do not use mineral oil on

fl

 ared part.

•

Prevent mineral oil from getting into the system as this would reduce the lifetime of the units.

•

Never use piping which has been used for previous installations. Only use parts which are delivered with the unit.

•

Do never install a drier to this R410A unit in order to guarantee its lifetime.

•

The drying material may dissolve and damage the system.

•

Incomplete

fl

aring may cause refrigerant gas leakage.

•

If no flare cap is

available, cover

the flare mouth

with tape to keep

dirt or water out.

Be sure to

place a cap.
