Installation Instructions
Installing the Rangetop, cont.
Checking Flame Quality
All burner flames must be visually checked to assess their quality.
If you want measure the flame, take care to avoid burn injuries.
1. Soft blue flames—Normal for natural gas.
2. Yellow tips on outer cones—Normal for LP gas.
3. Yellow flames—Abnormal for any gas operation.
If the burner flame looks like Ex. 3, call for service,
and do not use the rangetop. Ex. 1 or 2 are normal
burner flames.
Installing the Grates
For best results and longest life, install the grates as instructed. The grates occupy specific positions on the
rangetop and should only be used in those positions. (To help with installation, each grate's position is formed
into the bottom of the grate.)
The back of the right-hand grate is notched to help with placement. When installed properly, the openings in
the grates are centered over the burners. To correctly position the grates:
1. Find the notch on the back of the right-hand grate, and carefully lower it until its legs rest in the corre-
sponding dimples on the rangetop.
2. Likewise place the remaining grates so their feet rest in the corresponding dimples.
