About This Guide
This guide provides installation and instructions for the D-Link 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet L2 Switch (DMS-1100-
10TS and DMS-1100-10TP).
Note:
The model you have purchased may
appear slightly different from the illustrations
shown in the document. Refer to the sections for
detailed information about your switch, its
components, network connections, and technical
specifications.
This guide is divided into four parts:

Hardware Installation: Step-by-step hardware installation procedures.

Getting Started: A startup guide for basic switch installation and settings.

D-Link Network Assistant: An introduction to the central configuration utility.

Configuration: Information about the function descriptions and configuration settings.
Terms/Usage
In this guide, the term “Switch” (first letter capitalized) refers to the DMS-1100 Series switch and “switch”
(first letter lower case) refers to other Ethernet switches. Some technologies use
“switch”, “bridge” and
“switching hubs” interchangeably, and all are commonly accepted terms for Ethernet switches.
