Stacking Configuration Commands
config stacking mode
Purpose
Used to configure the stacking mode.
Syntax
config stacking mode
[master/auto/slave/standalone]
Description
Parameters
master
−
The switch in the switch stack that
becomes the management switch.
auto
−
Automatically determine the master
switch and the stacking order based upon the
numerical value of the individual switch’s
MAC address. The lowest MAC address
becomes the master switch.
slave
−
Forces a given switch in the switch
stack to never become the master switch.
standalone
−
No stacking functions enabled.
The switch is not stacked.
Restrictions
The switch’s stacking mode can only be
configured when the switch is in standalone
mode. Only administrator-level users can
issue this command.
Usage Example
To configure the stacking mode:
DES3226S:4#config stack mode auto
Command: config stacking mode auto
Success.
