5. With the pilot light lit and once the thermocouple is warmed, move the gas shut off knob (1) to the

ON position (2).

Figure 4B

6. Supply power to the heater by either plugging the power cord into an approved outlet, a piggy back

thermostat, or moving the thermostat to a desired temperature above room temperature if the heater
has been wired with this type of thermostat.

7. During the first start-up for a new heater installation or if the heater gas has been shut off, it may take

longer to purge the air from the lines before the pilot will light.

8. Once the heater is running for the first time, verify the inlet and manifold pressures match those on

the Danger label (listed under Acceptable Pressures) on the outside of the heater. This should be
done only by a qualified gas installer. Operating the heater at a pressure too high or too low will
adversely affect the operation of the heater and will void all warranties.

NOTE

If the pilot light extinguishes, allow a five minute complete shut off period before attempting to
relight the pilot.

Shutting OFF Heater

Shut off main gas supply valve, close ball valve, and disconnect electrical power.

Limiting Excess Carbon Dioxide (CO

)

In order to prevent hazardous accumulation of CO

gases, the heater must

operate ONLY in a properly ventilated room.

Ventilation requirements are given in Specifications and Requirements Section

on Page 13

Both installer and operator must ensure that the building’s ventilation rate never
drops below the noted limits.
