8.

The  speed  of  the  descent  is  regulated  with  one  hand  on  the  handle  and  the  other  hand
holding  the  line  below  the  device.  Start  with  the  line  at  an  angle  out  of  the  slot.  With  the
descender  upside  down,  the  descent  starts  by  pulling  the  handle  upwards

Fig.7

,  and

stops  when  moving  the  handle  downwards  or  by  releasing  it.  Increase  or  decrease
friction  by  moving  the  line  into  the  narrow  part  of  the  slot  or  away  as  shown  in

Fig.3:B

and  3:C

.  It  is  important  to  always  keep  one  hand  on  the  line  below  the  device  to  have

better  control  of  the  descent

Fig.  7

9.

Ensure  that  the  descent  is  not  in  conflict  with  moveable  machinery,  obstacles  or  live
cable.  The  line  must  not  lie  over  sharp  edges.

10.

Once  the  person  is  safely  on  the  ground,  give  necessary  medical  assistance  and  call
