Troubleshooting and Maintenance

Mechanical
Cleaning

If the electrodes still do not function properly after they have been burned clean, clean
them mechanically. Use only the electrode cleaning tool and the emery cloth included with
the tool kit for mechanical cleaning.

Place a piece of emery cloth (with the

rough side up) into the slot at the electrode

cleaning tool.

Remove the electrodes (see »Replacing the Electrodes« on page 6-18).

Insert the electrode into the cleaning tool and turn it carefully several times.

Do not touch the tips of the electrodes with your fingers after cleaning.

Clean the second electrode in the same way.

If cleaning is unsuccessful, or the electrodes are excessively eroded, they must be
replaced. Use original electrodes only.
