Getting Started and Operation

Remove the insulating pad in the battery compartment. This pad protects the battery

from discharging during transport. To this end, please also observe the section “Bat-
tery replacement” further on in this manual.

Prior to carrying out the measurements, measure your average personal step
length. For this purpose, walk or run ten steps and measure the distance covered. If
you divide this measured distance by ten, you will get a relatively accurate value of
your personal step length.

a) Settings

•  Press the MODE button (4) until the STEP display appears on the display.
•  Press and hold the SET button (2) until SETUP appears on the display.
•   Set the desired time format (12h or 24h format) using the keys RESET (3) or MODE (4).
•  Press the SET key (2) to set the next value (here, seconds).
•   Set the other values for the hours, minutes, month, date, year, measuring units, step length,

body weight and target steps per day as described above.

•   The values can be increased using the RESET key (3), and decreased using the MODE key

(4).

•   Press the SET key (2) to access the setting for the next value to be set and press this key at

the end of the setting process to save the set values and to return to normal mode.

If no keystrokes are performed for ten seconds, the step counter automatically

switches back to normal mode.

b) Attaching the product to clothes

To avoid faulty measurements, the step counter must not be exposed to
strong blows, magnetic

fi

 elds, electro-magnetic

fi

 elds or strong vibrations.

Do not hang the step counter around your neck and do not place it into the
back pockets of your trousers.

•  Insert the product in the mounting clip provided.
•   Fasten your step counter with the mounting clip preferably in the hip area on your clothing.

c) Operation

The display switches on automatically when motion is detected.

To avoid unintentional measurements, steps will be measured only after the device
has detected steps for a period of

fi

 ve seconds. These

fi

 rst steps are not displayed

initially, however they will be included in the measurement.

•  In normal mode, the steps and the time are displayed (STEP display).
•   At midnight, the values measured daily are reset so that the display always refers to a calen-

dar day.

•   Press the MODE key (4) to access the different display modes one after another:
