Installation and Connection
Without fail, read and observe the section “Safety instructions”.
• Mount the transformer on a stable, solid surface.
The transformer can be fastened through the openings on the bottom side using suitable
screws and dowels, if required. Pay attention when drilling and tightening the screws that no
cable or pipes are damaged.
The transformer may be used only in dry, closed interiors; it must not get damp or
wet. There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
Keep a suf
fi
cient distance to heat-insulating material (at least 10 cm), otherwise the
transformer may overheat.
Never mount the transformer on easily in
fl
ammable objects. Make sure you to keep
a suf
fi
cient distance from highly
fl
ammable objects (e.g. curtains).
Keep
suf
fi
cient distance from heaters and protect the transformer also from direct
sunlight, heat, cold, dust and dirt.
Never place the transformer directly next to a halogen lamp.
• Connect the output terminals of the transformer to your halogen lamps (parallel connection)
using a suitable cable.
Make sure you are using a cable with a cross section that is wide enough (we recommend at
least 1 mm²).
Do not strip too much of the cable insulation; otherwise there is a risk of a short-circuit.
• Check the existing cabling to the lamps and the screw connections, if applicable. Check that
all cables are laid so that there is no risk of a short-circuit.
• Plug the mains plug of the transformer into an appropriate mains socket.
If the halogen lamps connected to the transformer do not light up, disconnect the
transformer from the mains voltage immediately; pull the mains plug out of the mains
socket.
Afterwards, check all connections and cable connections. In case of doubt, contact
a professional (e.g. an electrician).
• Secure the mains cable e.g. with cable fasteners. Protect the mains cable from sharp edges.
• Since the transformer does not have a mains switch, you can use a radio-controlled switch-
able socket to turn the transformer and the connected halogen lamp system on or off.
Fuse replacement (only with item no. 570879)
• First disconnect the transformer from the mains voltage by pulling out the mains plug from the
mains socket.
• Find out why the fuse was tripped (e.g. a short-circuit in the cabling of your halogen lamp
system or a defect light bulb), and eliminate the problem.
• Unscrew the fuse holder by turning it counter-clockwise using a suitable screw driver.
• Replace the fuse by a fuse of the same type and design with the same nominal value (glass
tube fuse, 5 x 20 mm, 250 V, 1.25 A, slow-blow characteristics).
• Retighten the screws on the fuse holder.
• Connect the mains plug of the transformer to a mains socket and check the functioning of the
halogen lamp system.
Disposal
Dispose of unserviceable products in accordance with the relevant statutory regula-
tions.
