fi
cation of the product is not permitted for safety and
approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and does not belong in the hands of children. Use the product out of
the reach of children. It contains small items and batteries.
• The product must not get damp or wet; it is intended only for use in dry, enclosed indoor loca-
tions.
Protect the product from cold, heat, dust and dirt.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a dangerous
plaything for children.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental falls, even
from a low height.
Notes on (rechargeable) batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to
plus/+ and minus/-).
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk that they could be swallowed by
children or pets. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin can cause acid burns; there-
fore, use suitable safety gloves.
Liquids leaking from batteries/rechargeable batteries are very chemically aggressive. Objects or surfaces
coming into contact with these liquids might be considerably damaged. Thus, store batteries/rechargeable
batteries in a suitable location.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into
fi
re. There is a risk of
explosion!
• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. Risk of explosion! Charge only rechargeable batteries that
are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
When using rechargeable batteries in the Christmas tree candles, expect a considerably shorter
running time and a lower brightness due to the lower operating voltage (normal battery = 1.5 V/
cell, rechargeable battery = 1.2 V/cell).
Therefore, we recommend that you use conventional alkaline batteries.
Inserting/replacing the Batteries
a) Christmas tree candles
• Unscrew the upper part of the Christmas tree candles (hold the green bottom part and turn the upper part
to the left counter-clockwise).
• Then insert a type AAA/micro battery, observing the correct polarity.
The positive pole of the battery should point towards the candle top.
• Reassemble the Christmas tree candle (hold green bottom part and turn the upper part to the right clock-
wise). Do not exert any force.
The LED in the Christmas tree candle should light up after the candle parts are screwed together.
• A battery change is necessary when the LEDs in the Christmas tree candle shine weakly or do not shine
at all.
b) IR remote control
• Normally, the battery for the IR remote control is not en-
closed in the package separately but is already inserted
in the remote control.
• Open the battery compartment on the bottom side of
the IR remote control.
• Check whether there is a protective strip between the
battery and the battery contacts and remove it.
The protective strip prevents the battery from discharging too early.
• The battery needs replacing if the range of the IR remote control decreases or the Christmas tree candles
no longer respond to the remote control.
When replacing the battery, pay attention to the correct polarity. The positive pole (+) of the battery must
face outwards, towards you.
• Close the battery compartment again.
Operation
• Fasten the Christmas tree candles on a branch of the Christmas tree that is strong enough. The Christmas
tree candles can be adjusted vertically using the joint on the clip.
• To switch the Christmas tree candles on or off, point the front side of the IR remote control (with the inte-
grated IR LED) at the Christmas tree candles and press the corresponding button:
I = On
O = Off
If not all of the Christmas tree candles light up or go out, keep the corresponding button pressed
longer (or press the corresponding button several times). Hold the front side of the IR remote
control closer to the Christmas tree candles; point the IR LED directly at the Christmas tree
candles (the light of the IR LED is not visible to the human eye).
In order for the Christmas tree candles to respond to the IR remote control correctly, a direct
visual connection is required. Branches/twigs between the IR remote control and the Christmas
tree candles may prevent a correct response.
• Due to the IR receiver, the Christmas tree candles require a certain amount of power, even when they are
switched off. If you do not intend to use the Christmas tree candles for a long period (e.g. if they are to be
stored away), remove the batteries.
Disposal
