Installation of the steam and condensate hoses
Correct routing of the steam and condensate hoses is a prerequisite for correct functioning of the Condair
RH-DS steam humidification system. Therefore, observe and follow the instructions below for the routing
of the steam and condensate hoses and carry out the installations as shown in the figures in
5.6.1 General instructions for steam and condensate hose routing
– Use only the steam or condensate hoses supplied for the steam supply or condensate drain line.
– Route the steam hose in such a way that it is as short as possible (
max. 4 m
) and the
minimum
bending radius of 250 mm
is maintained.
Note:
If maximum steam hose length or if the minimum bending radius cannot be maintained, please
contact your Condair representative.
– For safety reasons (protection against accidental contact, avoiding heat build-up in niches, etc.), the
entire length of the steam hose must be insulated using the insulation hose supplied (see
). The condensate hose must be insulated from the condensate connection to the condensate
using the slotted fabric hose supplied (see
).
– Route the steam hose from the steam connection of the steam humidifier to the steam connection
of the steam distribution unit with a constant up- or downslope of at least 10%.
If it is not possible to route the steam hose in this way (for example to avoid obstacles in the room), a
condensate drain with a T-piece should be provided at the lowest point(s). The inside diameter of the
T-piece must not be smaller than the inside diameter of the steam connection on the steam humidifier.
– Cross-section reductions (e.g., due to kinks) must be avoided along the entire length of the line. The
installation of a shut-off valve (solenoid valve) in the steam line is not permitted.
– Steam hoses must not sag (condensate trap); if necessary, support the steam hoses with pipe
brackets, a rail or a profile channel, or fit a condensate drain at the lowest point in the steam hose.
–
Important!
When determining the length and routing of the hose, take into account that the steam
hose will shorten as it ages. The steam hose must, under no circumstances, exert tensile loads on
the steam connections on the steam humidifier or on the steam distribution unit.
– The steam hose must be fastened to the outlet of the steam humidifier and to the inlet of the steam
distribution unit with the supplied hose clamps.
– The condensate hose must be routed downwards to an open drain funnel with a
minimum slope
of 20%
via a
trap
(hose bend of
at least ø200 mm
).
