Installation on the ground
When connecting the pressure pipe, couplings or parts
of pipe that are screwed onto the double socket must
not block the opening of the swing check valve, since the
pump can otherwise not achieve the full conveyor per-
formance. Gate valves and swing check valves must the
fitted on the pressure pipe according to the local regula-
tions, if appropriate. The pressure pipe, consisting of an
ascending pipe or hose must be laid out without tension,
when using a hose it must be ensured that it has dimen-
sions in accordance with the diameter of the pressure
connection and that it is laid our without bends.
Mount the pump with rope or chain on the handle, and
lower it into the medium to be pumped. With a mud-
dy ground, place stones or similar under the pump to
prevent subsidence.
If the discharge outlet of the pump is dry now and then,
for example due to the evaporation of the residual water
in the shaft, it is necessary to vent the pump housing per-
manently. To ensure this, the pump has a vent on above
the type plate. It may happen that water leaks out of this
small opening. If this vent is not sufficient, a 5mm hole
can be drilled into the pump housing
Caution:
Only the blue plastic housing may be drilled through.
In addition to the air vent hole it is necessary to install an
alarm circuit or a high water alarm to minimize the risk of
flooding.

Automatic float switch
If the water rises to a certain maximum level (switch
on point), the float that rises to the top, automatical-
ly switches the pump on. If by the pumping down,
the water level dropped to a certain minimum lev-
el (switch off point), the float switches the pump off.
The switching distance, i.e. the water level differ-
ence between the switch on and off point can be
individually set.
To ensure proper functioning, follow the instructions
below:
•
The mounting points and the length of the freely
moveable ends of the float cable must be set to the
desired level. It should be noted that the switch of
the pump is located below the supply line, in order to
prevent back pressure of the medium to be pumped.
The switch-off point must be above the top edge of
the pump housing, so that no air pockets can form in
the pump. At times it is necessary to bleed the pump.
•
Never throw the float with cable into the medium,
since the correct switching is only possible with a
rotary movement of the float around the mount-
ing point of the cable. Possible consequences of
non-compliance are flooding (pump does not turn
on), or destruction of the pump by running dry (pump
does not stop).
•
When using separate floats for pump start, pump
stop and alarm, the switching levels are to be chosen
as above. The alarm float should switch at about 10
cm above the pump switch-on point, but always be-
low the inlet.
•
Important:
After each change of the float mounting,
it is necessary to check the proper function of the
float switch by performing a trial run.
Installing a check valve
The pump is equipped with a check valve by default. It
is not necessary to install the pump included the check
valve. The reason for this is that the pump might be sub-
ject to functional impairment under certain conditions. If it
has not been operated for a long time (months or years),
dirt (which might have been present in large amounts in
the suctioned surface water during the last operation)
from the water column standing on the check valve could
