Clearing the Power-On Password
NOTE:
Clearing the power-on password also
removes all Setup attributes that are
programmed in the CMOS.
If the password is not known, clear it by performing the
following steps:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Disconnect the power cord.
3. Remove the
battery pack
.
4. Remove the
Palmrest Cover with TouchPad
.
5. Remove the
keyboard
.
6. Remove the
Heatspreader
.
7. Remove the RTC
battery for about
30 seconds to
ensure that the
password is
cleared. (The RTC
battery is located
underneath the
heatspreader and
next to the
CD/DVD
connector.) Not
shown in
illustration.
8. Reassemble the
computer.
9. Turn on the
computer to verify
that the power-on
password has been
cleared. If it has
not been cleared,
repeat steps 1
through 9.
