5.11 Keyboard Assembly
The keyboard assembly consists of the keyboard, keyboard bezel, and the pointing
device, and is spared as a unit. This assembly must be removed to gain access to the
interior components of the computer.
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Section 5.4).
2. Remove any battery pack(s) from the computer (Section 5.7).
3. Turn the computer upside down with the rear panel facing forward.
4. Remove the nine screws from the bottom of the computer (Figure 5-30).
CAUTION:
The two screws removed from the highlighted screw holes are shorter than
the other seven screws. Make sure these shorter screws are installed in the same
locations when replacing the keyboard assembly. Failure to follow this caution
can result in damage to the computer.
