POST Error Messages
Smart Array controllers produce diagnostic error messages at reboot. Many of these
Power-On Self-Test (POST) messages are self-explanatory and suggest corrective
actions for troubleshooting. Detailed information about these messages is given in
Table G-1.

SCSI cable error detected. System
halted.
There is a termination or cabling problem
with the system board integrated SCSI
controller. See the cabling information in
this guide.

Slot x drive array – RAID ADG logical
drives present but cache size is less
than or equal to 32 MB.
This configuration is not recommended.
Migrate the logical drive (or drives) to RAID
5 or upgrade the array accelerator cache
module.

Slot x drive array – RAID 5 logical
drives present with 56 drives or more,
but cache size is less than or equal to
32 MB.
This configuration is not recommended.
Migrate the logical drive (or drives) to RAID
0 or 1, reduce the number of drives in the
array, or upgrade the array accelerator
cache module.

Slot x drive array – Redundant ROM
reprogramming failure.
Replace the controller if this error persists
after restarting the system.

Slot x drive array – Redundant ROM
checksum error.
Backup ROM has been activated
automatically. Check the firmware version.
