12.4.3 Dark Current Nulling
The
Dark Current Nulling
parameter tab is used to initiate calibration of the VOA channel. This reduces error at
low powers due to dark current. Dark current nulling needs to be performed when high accuracy
measurements are being made with the instrument. This is especially important when measuring very low
powers and the temperature of the instrument has changed. It is recommended to do the dark current nulling
daily and after rebooting once the warm up time is completed.
To ensure that no light enters the VOABlade channels during the entire nulling process use screw on caps for
both the input and output.
To perform the dark current nulling:
1. Select all channels for which you are performing
dark current nulling.
2. Click ‘
Start dark current nulling’
under the ‘Dark
Current Nulling’ tab.
3. A window will pop up, click ‘OK‘ to confirm placement
of caps.
4. Dark current nulling will take approximately 10
seconds. A window will pop up when the process is
complete.

MPORTANT
Ensure that the input and output connectors of the VOABlade are
terminated with fiber caps before starting the Dark Current nulling.
