Check the headset. 

 
Turn on the processor and set microphone 
sensitivity to 10 or 12.  
Put coil in place over implant. 
Speak normally into the microphone. 
If the segment meter moves, there is no problem 
with the connection between the processor and the 
headpiece. 
 
If the segment meter does not move: 
Change the headset cable. 
 
If the segment meter still does not move: 
Change the transmitting cable. 
 

If the segment meter still does not move: 
Plug the lapel microphone into the accessory input socket.  Speak 
into the lapel microphone.   

 

If the segment meter still does not move: 
Contact your CI centre. 
If the segment meter does move:  There is a problem with the 

original microphone. 

 

Program is faulty.  Turn processor on and off again.  A 
new program will be selected automatically.  If symbols 

remain, refer to CI centre. 

 

If there is intermittent buzzing or distorted sound 

 
This may be due to interference from electromagnetic fields from an 
electronic device.  Look for a possible source eg mobile phone tower,  
mobile phones, radio transmission towers or computer screens. Move 

away from them. If the problem persists, consult the clinic.
