Controls
1999 Carryall Gasoline Vehicle Owner’s Manual 15
• Carryall II Plus and Carryall VI vehicles:
When the cam is in the OPERATE position, the neutral lock-
out circuit will cause the engine to stop running if the accelerator pedal is depressed while the vehicle is
in NEUTRAL. When the cam is in the SERVICE position, it will allow the mechanic to run the engine in
FORWARD, REVERSE or NEUTRAL for certain maintenance and/or repair functions. However, if the
Forward/Reverse handle is in either FORWARD or REVERSE and the accelerator pedal is depressed,
the engine will stop running.
CHOKE
The choke is located on the seat support panel below and to the left of the driver’s left knee. If the vehicle is
hard to start in cool or cold temperatures, activate the choke:
• Carryall I:
Push the choke cover in to activate. Hold it during start up and release the choke cover after
the engine starts and runs smoothly
(Figure 11, Page 16)
.
• Carryall II, Turf II, II Plus and VI:
Pull the choke handle out to activate. Release the handle when the
engine begins to run smoothly
(Figure 12, Page 16)
.
OIL LIGHT
The gasoline powered Carryall is equipped with a low oil warning light, located on the dash panel just above
the steering column
(Figure 13, Page 16)
. If the oil warning light comes on, oil should be checked and added
to the engine as necessary before continuing to use the vehicle. The vehicle should never be driven when
the oil warning light remains on. If the oil warning light goes on and off, the vehicle may be driven, but oil
should be added at the first opportunity. If the oil level is correct and the light stays on, have a trained
mechanic check the vehicle.
•
BE SURE TO RETURN THE CAM TO THE
OPERATE
POSITION AFTER SERVICING THE
VEHICLE, OR THE ENGINE WILL STOP RUNNING WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS
DEPRESSED AND THE FORWARD/REVERSE HANDLE IS IN EITHER
FORWARD
OR
REVERSE
