Product description
This gas alarm is designed to issue an alert upon detection of different types of
explosive gases in normal domestic environments, caravans and boats.
Explosive gases are dangerous when their concentration exceeds a certain level,
the lower explosive limit (LEL). The gas alarm is calibrated to issue a warning in
good time, before this concentration of gas is reached. More detailed information
about which gases the alarm detects and its calibrated alarm level can be found
below. The alarm can be connected directly to a 12 V DC power supply when used
in a caravan or boat. In buildings with a 230 V AC power supply the included AC/
DC mains adaptor must be used.
NOTE: This instruction manual contains important information about how the gas
alarm should be installed and used. Please read the entire instruction manual before
installation and then save it for future use.
Features
The LED indicator lights show the status of the gas alarm during installation,

normal operation and when the alarm is triggered.
A single press of the test/hush button will silence any unwanted alarm signal

for 10 minutes.
Automatic self-diagnostic test which ensures that the sensor operates properly.

•
Placement
We recommend that the gas alarm is installed in a place where a gas leak might
occur such as a kitchen. Typical locations could be close to gas-fuelled appliances,
gas pipes and gas bottles. The installation of multiple gas alarms can often increase
the level of safety. The alarm should be installed at a particular height depending on
which type of gas you primarily want the alarm to detect. If the alarm is to be used
with 230 V AC, it must be sited no further than 2 m away from a wall socket. NOTE:
The alarm should be installed by an experienced or competent person. The alarm
could be permanently damaged or give you an electric shock if it is installed incor-
rectly, modified or defective.
Natural Gas/Town Gas (Methane):
Natural gas consists mainly of methane which is
lighter than air
and in which case
the gas alarm should be
mounted high up on a wall
. Bear in mind that the gas alarm
must not be placed lower than the top of any doors or windows. Normal placement
is no more than 30 cm from the ceiling and 1–5 m from gas equipment. See the
figure below.

Natural gas
Unsuitable location
LPG or bottled gas (e.g. propane or butane):
These gases are
heavier than air
and therefore the gas alarm should be mounted
as
low as possible
. Bear in mind that there should neither be a door nor a window
between the gas alarm and the source of the gas, as this could prevent gas
leakages from reaching the alarm. Normal placement is no more than 30 cm from
the floor and max 4 m from gas equipment. See the figure above.
Never install the gas alarm in the following locations:
Directly over a cooker where cooking fumes, fat and dirt could affect the alarm.
•
Directly over a sink where water splashes (humidity) and dirt could affect the alarm.
•
Next to an air vent, fan or anywhere else where it would be affected by
•
draught. The same applies to poorly insulated windows and doors.
Built-in or covered, since this could delay the detection of a gas leak.
•
Outside, or where the humidity is less than 30 % or higher than 90 % relative
•
humidity (e.g. bathrooms or boats). Operating temperature: between -10 °C and
+50 ºC. The alarm should also be protected from electromagnetic interference.

Choose a suitable location to install the alarm in accordance with the “Placement”

section above. Take care not to damage any hidden electrical cables or pipes during
the installation. Detach the mounting plate from the back of the alarm by releasing the
locking tab on the cover.
Undo the screws on the base of the alarm and open the hatch in the left-hand corner.

Connect a suitable type of power cable to the connectors on the terminal block
marked “V+” and “GND” (-). If required, the power cable can be inserted either from
the rear (through the mounting plate) or from underneath through the plastic hatch.
Make sure to observe the polarity, positive wire to “V+” and negative to “GND” (-).
The alarm can be interconnected with other gas alarms if desired by connecting the

connectors marked “INT” on the terminal blocks of all the gas alarms together using a
separate wire.
Screw the mounting plate (with the locking tab pointing up) onto a wall using the

included screws and wall plugs. Close the hatch on the alarm and secure the hatch
with the locking screw. Fit the alarm into the mounting plate.
Connect the power supply to 12 V DC or if appropriate to 230 V AC via the included

AC/DC mains adaptor (NB: Observe the correct polarity!). When the power has
been connected correctly, the green LED will light. Shortly thereafter the yellow and
red LEDs will light for 1 second, to indicate that the alarm is working and is being
calibrated.
If the green light is lit, the alarm is ready for use; otherwise check that the power

supply and wires are connected correctly, as described above. Press the test button
to make sure that the gas alarm works.
Functions
Alarm – gas detection:
When gas in concentrations exceeding the calibrated alarm level is detected, the
alarm will emit a series of 4 powerful beeps which is repeated continuously with a
1.5-second interval for as long as the gas is present. The red LED will also flash for
as long as gas is detected. See also the “Interconnection” section below. Note: It is
possible that gas can be smelt in the air before the gas alarm has been triggered.
Hush function:
The alarm signal can be stopped by pressing the combined test/hush button. The
alarm signal will then stop immediately and remain off for about 10 minutes. The red
LED will continue to flash every 4 seconds for as long as gas is present.
Interconnection (by wire):
In order to provide the earliest possible warning, it is possible to connect together
up to 16 gas alarms. The triggering of one alarm will trigger the alarm signals of all
the connected alarms. The red LED of only the detecting gas alarm will flash. More
information can be found in the “Key to alarm responses” section.
Operating life warning and automatic self-test:
The gas sensor has a limited lifespan of 5–7 years, which the alarm will alert you to
in plenty of time before the sensor is exhausted. The entire gas alarm should then
be replaced. The alarm is also equipped with a self-test feature which ensures that
it operates correctly. If there is a technical fault the alarm will emit 2 short beeps, the
operating life warning is 3 short beeps, in both cases with a 1-minute interval. The
yellow LED flashes and the red LED shines steadily. If there is a technical fault, clean
the alarm, check the power supply and try placing the alarm in another room. If the
fault remains or if the operating life is coming to an end, the alarm should be
replaced as soon as possible. The service life of the product can be extended by
storing it in a warm, dry place when it is not in use.
Testing and maintenance
Test the alarm by pressing the test button. The alarm will then emit 4 short
•
beeps and at the same time the red LED will flash once for every beep – this will
indicate that the alarm is functioning properly. Note: Tests using other methods
such as the gas from a cigarette lighter, other gas or flammable liquids could be
both misleading and pose an immediate danger to the surrounding area.
The alarm should be tested every month and following every prolonged absence
•
from the premises.
Make sure that the indicator light (red LED) flashes once every minute.
•
Keep the gas alarm free from moisture (humid environments) and dirt.
•
Vacuum the openings of the alarm every month with the dusting brush nozzle.
•
Never use cleaning agents, water or chemicals to clean the alarm, they could
•
damage the sensor. The same applies if solvents, alcohol, varnish, paint, or
aerosols are used in the vicinity of the gas alarm. They could trigger false alarms.
The gas alarm should be tested using the test button every time after it has been cleaned.
•
When leaving an area where gas is used, the equipment and gas supply should be turned off.
•
No modifications to gas installations should be made without sufficient proficiency.
•
Have a tradesman inspect all gas equipment and installations regularly.
•
Make sure that gas installations comply with current rules and regulations.
•
Avoid sleeping in the vicinity of gas installations.
•
If the alarm sounds
Every alarm signal and suspected exposure to gas leakages should be taken
seriously. Stay calm and take the following actions, not necessarily in the order in
which they are listed.
Never switch on any electrical machinery or lights as the potential arcing inside
•
the switches could ignite the gas. Extinguish any naked flames, including
cigarettes immediately.
Cut off the gas supply and check the connected equipment and any gas pipes
•
and hoses.
Immediately open all windows and doors to ventilate the premises.
•
If the danger is immediate, leave the premises and call the emergency service
•
from a safe place.
Check that everyone who was in the premises is safe.
•
Do not re-enter the premises until the emergency services have arrived, the
•
alarm signal has stopped and the premises have been ventilated.
In any other case, or if the alarm signal continues after the hush function
•
has been activated: evacuate the premises. Contact the supplier of the gas
equipment, a qualified tradesman or the emergency services for help. The same
applies of course if you cannot locate the source of the gas leak.

Guarantee
Your gas alarm has a 3-year guarantee from the day of delivery. The guarantee covers
material and manufacturing defects and is limited to that the alarm is repaired or
exchanged within the guarantee period. The guarantee only applies if the instructions
for use and service laid out in this instruction manual have been followed. Deltronic
Security AB accepts no responsibility or liability for damage to persons or property,
either direct or indirect, caused by this product failing to emit an alarm signal in case
of an accident. The liability of Deltronic Security AB shall be limited in any event –
regardless of whether the law provides for specific liability – to the sales price of the
product. The installation of gas alarms does not in any respect replace insurance
cover! If a defect is suspected within the guarantee period, please return the defec-
tive alarm to the place of purchase or distributor together with a report of the defect.
A copy of the receipt or proof of purchase must also be sent. Please note among
other things that the detector is not to be used in humid environments!
