FOR SAFE USE, READ THE FOLLOWING BEFOREHAND.

Be sure to observe the following conditions in order to protect
yourself and others from harm or damage.

The following signs indicate the degree of harm or damage that may
be caused by neglecting the descriptions of improper clock use.

The sign indicates the risk of “possible serious or
even fatal injury.”

The sign indicates the risk of “possible minor injury
or only physical damage.”
The following signs show the type of contents to be
observed. (An example of indication)

The sign indicates “Prohibited items.”

The sign indicates “Compulsory items.”

Prevention of an accident caused by accidental ingestion

Keep small parts and batteries out of the reach of
children. In the unlikely event that a child swallows
a part or battery, seek immediate medical attention.

Do not disassemble or alter the clock, since doing so
may cause a malfunction.

The clock is a precision instrument. Do not drop or
subject it to shock; otherwise, it may malfunction or
be damaged.

Liquid crystal display panel

If a damaged display panel results in liquid crystal
adhering to your hand or other parts of the body,
use soap and running water to wash it off. If this
substance gets into your mouth or eyes, wash out
the affected area with clean water and then seek
immediate medical attention.

Place of use

Do not use the clock in the following places;
otherwise, the quality of the clock, case or battery
will deteriorate, leading to low clock accuracy or
shorter battery service life.

z

Places where temperature exceeds 50

˚

C, such as in direct sunlight

for a long time. Places near hot air or fire from heating equipment

z

Places where temperature is -10

˚

C or lower, possibly causing

plastics or the battery to deteriorate in performance

z

Places subject to high humidity such as a bathroom

z

Places subject to strong magnetism such near a television, OA
equipment or audio equipment, where the clock may gain or lose
time, or stop

z

Places subject to strong vibration such as onboard a car, a ship and
at a construction site

z

Places where gasses are generated, such as a hot spring

z

Places where a large amount of oil is used. In such places, misty
oil may adhere to the case or mechanical parts, thus staining the
clock or causing it to stop.

z

Places where it is very dusty.

z

A plastic clock in direct contact with flexible polyvinyl chloride
for a long time may become discolored.

PROPER USE OF THE BATTERY.

Use the battery properly to avoid an accident.

z

Do not confuse the battery’s positive and negative electrodes.

z

Remove the battery when it is not to be used for a long time.

z

Use the battery within the recommended period of use indicated on it.

z

Keep the battery out of the reach of children.

z

Periodically replace the battery with a new one even when the

clock continues to run normally.

z

Remove the battery at once if the clock stops.

Type of the battery

z

This clock is designed to match battery performance. Be sure to
use the specified battery; otherwise, the clock may not satisfy
specifications or operate normally.

z

An alkaline dry battery is interchangeable with a manganese dry
battery in terms of shape. Generally, an alkaline battery maintains
good performance longer than a manganese battery.

z

Since a rechargeable battery generally has lower voltage and is not
adequate for the clock, do not use it.

z

Some high-performance batteries have higher initial voltage

and are not adequate for the clock (e.g., Panasonic Oxyride dry
battery).

Handling

Observe the following to prevent liquid leakage or the
battery from bursting.

z

Do not scratch or disassemble the battery.

z

Do not charge the battery.

z

Remove the battery when not using the clock.

z

Do not short-circuit the battery.

z

Remove the battery at once if the clock stops.

If liquid leaks out

If liquid leaking from the battery gets into your eyes or
adheres to your skin, immediately wash it off and seek
immediate medical attention. In case of an alkaline battery,
temporary blinding or skin inflammation is likely to occur.

If liquid adheres to your clothes, wash the clothes in tap water.

Do not touch leaked liquid with your bare hands. Pay
particular attention to an alkaline battery.
Remove the battery with gloved fingers and use a cloth or

paper to wipe off the leaked liquid.
When the battery must be repaired, consult the sales outlet where
you purchased it or our Customer Consultation Room.

Battery service life

z

Since the attached battery was mounted in the clock at factory

shipment, its service life may be shorter than that described in the
product specifications.

z

Battery service life may be shorter than that described in the

product specifications depending on use environment temperature.

z

When a backup battery is used, its service life may be shorter

depending the storage conditions and “recommended expiration
date” indicated on the battery.
