Chapter 3 Power Supply and Fan Module Installation
Installing or Replacing a Power Supply
The power supply module has one status LED. Table 3-2 lists the LED colors and their meanings.
Do not operate the switch with an empty power supply slot. If no power supply is installed in a power
supply slot, install a power supply slot cover (
Figure 3-2 ).

Installing or Replacing a Power Supply
Step 1
Turn off the power at its source. If you are not replacing a power supply, go to Step 4 .
Step 2
Unplug the power cord from the power supply module connector.
Step 3
Using a flat head screwdriver, loosen the captive screw.
Step 4
Move the release latch at the left side of the power supply module to the right to unlock it. If you are not
replacing a power supply, go to Step
6 .
Step 5
Grasp the captive screw and pull out the power supply. ( Figure 3-3 ).
Caution
Do not leave the power-supply slot open for more than 90 seconds while the switch is operating.
Step 6
Install the new power supply into the slot, and gently push it in ( Figure 3-3 ). When correctly inserted,
the power supply is flush with the switch rear panel.
Step 7
Move the release latch left to the locked position.
