Use the lane client ethernet command followed by the name of the ELAN to configure a LANE
client:
5.
CoriolisLS1010(config−if)# lane client ethernet elan−name
Powering on the LightStream 100 ATM Switch
To power on the LightStream 100 ATM switch, use the following steps:
Turn the power switch to the on position, which is depicted by a symbol that looks like this: (|).
1.
The switch will execute the diagnostic power on self test (POST). The results can be viewed by
connecting to the console port. If there is a problem with the POST, you can see the error on screen
and you will be notified with a lit alarm LED. A red alarm LED indicates a failure that must be
resolved before the boot process can continue. The screen displays NG (for “no good”) when a POST
item doesn’t pass; you will see a Not Installed error if the switch has an empty slot.
2.
Configuring the LS100 Switch
To perform the basic configuration on the LS100 switch, follow these steps:
Use the show interface or show module command to display the interfaces installed. Make sure there
is a line number for each module installed.
1.
If a card or module does not appear, turn off the power, reseat the module or card, and turn the power
back on. If the card or module still does not appear, contact Cisco’s Technical Assistance Center
(TAC).
2.
Use the enable command to enter Privileged EXEC command mode. The system requests a
password; if one has not been assigned, just hit the Enter key.
3.
Type in a lowercase c to allow changes. The prompt changes from > to #.
4.
You must set the time and date on the LS100 switch. The following command shows how to set the
time to 7:37 p.m. in military time and the date to November 30, 2000:
CoriolisLS100# set time 00−11−30 19:37:00
System Timer is set.
00−11−30 19:37:00
5.
Use the set clock command to set the clock to synchronize the time with the other connected
LightStream switches. This step will also determine if the switch is a master or slave time
synchronizer unit.
6.
Use the set interface command to register a line. This command sets the interface type to
user−network interface (UNI) or network−to−network interface (NNI), the standard body
conformance to either ATM or ITU, the length of the VPI valid bits, and the length of VCI valid bits.
7.
Use the pvc establish command to configure a point−to−point PVC.
Warning This command becomes active immediately.
8.
To optionally set PVC multicast, use the pvc add command to add the endpoint. The pvc add
command can also be used to add a PVC endpoint for point−to−multipoint connection. If you are
using an SVC, use the route add command instead of the pvc add command. The pvc establish
command allows you to enter the line number, VPI, and VCI.
Note To delete an endpoint, use the pvc remove command.
9.
Use the save command to save the configuration data.
10.
Use the exit command to exit Privileged EXEC command mode.
