The white areas are a comfortable level of true white.

The image contains only black, gray and white (no color).
Changing the contrast
Brightness and contrast controls are interactive.
A change to one may require a subtle change to the other in order to achieve the optimum setting.
1. Display a stepped, gray-bar test pattern.
2. Press MENU on the remote control or keypad.
3. Select Image Settings > Contrast.
4. Use the arrows to adjust the contrast to a point where the white rectangle starts to increase in
size.
Sharpening the image
Learn how to sharpen the image on a display panel.
1. Select a test pattern similar to the one shown below.
2. Press MENU on the remote control or keypad.
3. Select Image Settings > Sharpness.
4. Use the arrows to adjust the sharpness. Look for white edges around the transitions from black
to gray and differently-sized lines in the sweep patterns at the top and bottom. Lower the
sharpness setting to eliminate them.
