to sharpen a chain:

Clean the chain before sharpening. Use an approved, nonflammable solvent. Do not use gasoline.

Dispose of the dirty solvent according to local environmental regulations. Dry the chain before

sharpening.

cautiOn:

Leave the tool unplugged and turned OFF while setting up the chain for sharpening.

Release the Lock Stop (6) on top of the grinder assembly and raise the grinder assembly up.
Lift up the Chain Stop (23) and place the chain on the Sliding Guides (31). Press the Chain Stop

down to hold the chain link in place. This will be your “Starting Link”.

angle. Retighten the Lock Wheel.
Lower the grinder assembly until the Grinding Wheel (8) rests on the chain link tooth.

wheel at this depth.
Adjust the Lower Knob (26) to limit the amount of material that will be removed by the sharpening

process. Fix the Lower Knob in place with its Lock Nut.
Lock the chain in position by turning the Handle (34) clockwise.
With ANSI-approved eye protection in place, plug in the Power Cord (3) and turn the Power Switch

(5) to the ON position.
Slowly lower the Grinding Wheel (8) onto the chain to sharpen the link. Operate the grinder in a

smooth manner, do not leave the grinding wheel on the tooth long enough to overheat, as this will

damage the tooth.
After sharpening one tooth, turn the machine OFF.

Lift the grinding assembly and fix in place using the Lock Stop (6).

Release the Handle (34) by turning counterclockwise. Raise the Chain Stop (34), move the chain to

the next link. Reposition the Chain Stop and tighten the Handle.
