POWER STEERING
Actual conditions w ill dictate rep lacem en t in ter

To help prevent repeated fa ilu r e s, it is r e c
om m ended that th is filte r be in sta lle d at tim e of
overhaul on any unit experiencing a pow er steering
com ponent fa ilu r e. When used for th is purpose, it
should be rep laced after the fir s t 500 m iles of
s e r v ic e .
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Cut a 3 - inch sectio n from the return line
h o se and in sta ll the filte r a s shown in figure 1.
(Installation should be made as c lo s e to the pump
a s p o ssib le .) C are should be taken to en su re hose
clam p s a re p rop erly p osition ed behind sealing
rin g s of filte r .
NOTE: The d irection of flow is indicated on
the filte r and, under no c ir cu m sta n ces, should the
elem en t be r e v ersed .
2. Tape the filte r elem ent and the return line
to the p r e ssu r e hose as shown. It is im portant that
the return lin e be taped on both sid e s of the filter
to syn ch ron ize vibration.

Adjusting O rdinary V -B elt
Using Strand Gauge (Burroughs B T -3 3 -7 3 -F )
NOTE: Gauge should be p laced at the center
of the g re a te st span of the b elt.
a. L oosen pump mounting b o lts.
b. If "Used" belt, p osition pump to obtain 80
to 90 pounds.
c. If "New” belt, p osition pump to obtain 120
to 130 pounds.
d. Tighten pump attaching b o lts firm ly .
NOTE: A V -b elt is con sid ered "Used" after
two hour’s operation or approxim ately 50 to 100
m ile s operation.
