  RHEL 6.X Installation  

i.  Please make sure that the USB drive with DUD image is inserted. Press 

Tab

 and then type 

dd

  at  the  boot  prompt  for  the  installation  media.  The 

dd

  option  specifies  that  you  will  be 

providing a Driver Update Disk during the installation. 

 

ii. 

The installer will load and prompt you for the driver update disk. Select “Yes” and hit [Enter] 
to proceed. 

 

iii.  You will be asked to select the Driver Update Disk device from a list. USB drives usually show 

up as SCSI disks in Linux. So, if there are no other SCSI disks connected to the system, the 
USB drive would assume the first drive letter “a”. Hence the drive name would be “sda”.  
 
You can view the messages from the Linux kernel and drivers to determine the name of the 
USB drive, by pressing [Alt] + [F3] or [Alt] + [F4]. Press [Alt] + [F1] to get back to the list.
