Connecting the Gas Cylinder to the Grill
This appliance is only suitable for use with Universal LP, fi tted with the appropriate low-pressure regulator via
a fl exible hose. The hose should be secured to the regulator and the appliance with hose clips.
1. Ensure all control knobs are in the OFF position and verify that the gas cylinder valve is closed by
turning the handle on the gas cylinder valve clockwise until it stops.
2. Remove the protective cap from the gas cylinder valve nozzle.
3. Hold regulator in a straight line with gas cylinder valve nozzle so the connection does not cross thread.
4. Insert regulator nipple into the gas cylinder valve nozzle opening.
5. Hand-tighten coupling nut in a clockwise direction.
Do not use tools!
6. Perform a Leak Test. (See Leak Testing section of this manual).
Only cylinders with a listed overfi ll prevention device (OPD) and marked “propane” may be used. Cylin-
ders with an OPD will have valve handles with three “lobes” (prongs). Only use 20-pound (9 kg.) cylinders
equipped with a Type 1 cylinder connection device for outdoor cooking appliances. The cylinder must
include a collar to protect the cylinder valve.
Before connection, be sure that there is no debris caught in the
head of the gas cylinder, head of the regulator valve or in the
head of the burner and burner ports. Connect regulator valve and
hand-tighten firmly. Disconnect the propane cylinder from the
regulator valve when the grill is not in use. DO NOT obstruct the
flow of combustion air and ventilation air to the grill. The propane
cylinder must be arranged for vapor withdrawal and equipped with
a listed overfilling prevention device. For proper vapor withdrawal,
the cylinder should be used in the proper upright position.
DANGER:
Never store a spare propane cylinder near this grill. A fi re
causing death or serious injury may occur if the above is
not followed exactly.

Secure Bracket
Insert bottom lip of cylinder into tank support brace then
slide bracket over top lip. Tighten screw in bracket until gas
cylinder is secured in place.
