Effects of Using Unauthorized Batteries
The following may also be experienced if unauthorized batteries are used:
•
Inconsistent device performance.
CenTrak does not warrant performance of any kind for
batteries not purchased from CenTrak or a CenTrak Authorized Reseller.
•
Inaccurate Low Battery Indications (LBI).
CenTrak Pulse™ will not provide accurate Low
Battery Indication (LBI) data. This feature is designed to function using only CenTrak authorized
batteries, based on thousands of hours of field testing.
•
Increased Labor Cost.
Based on time spent changing batteries and finding equipment in order to
change batteries more frequently.
Using Connect Pulse™ to Determine When to Replace Batteries
Pulse is a cloud-based software that aggregates and analyzes data from CenTrak devices and presents
the current health of the overall network and hardware, including tags, sensors, monitors, exciters,
and stars, and recommends maintenance activities to ensure customer network uptime, reliability,
and strong health.
Pulse will display the battery status of battery-powered devices in 3 main categories:
•
Good.
When the battery health of a CenTrak device is strong, it will appear with a "Good" status.
No action is needed for a device in this status.
•
Less than 90-Days.
When a CenTrak device's battery has depleted to a state where CenTrak has
estimated life expectancy is less than 90-days, it will appear in the "Less than 90-Days status".
CenTrak recommends using this status for battery change activity planning and forecasting,
including acquiring supply of authorized batteries, scheduling staffing resources, and notifying
affected departments of the battery change schedule and any impact it may have. CenTrak does
not recommend replacing batteries in devices while in this status as Pulse will not automatically
reset the device to the "Good" bin. Should the customer choose to change batteries while in this
status, they must contact CenTrak Support with Device IDs and date when the battery was
changed, so that a manual replacement indication can be made by CenTrak Support. Note: Not
all CenTrak devices support the Less than 90-Days status.
•
Less than 30-Days.
When a CenTrak device's battery has depleted to a state where CenTrak has
estimated life expectancy to be less than 30-days, it will appear in the "Less than 30-Days" status.
CenTrak recommends replacing batteries while in this status as soon as possible to avoid battery
failure. When a device is in the Less than 30-Days status and the battery is replaced with an
authorized battery, Pulse will automatically process battery replacement indications and move
the device to the "Good" bin.
