Maintenance
WARNING:
Before carrying out any inspection of the inside of
the generator, disconnect the system from the supply.
DIGITECH 400 PULSED
WARNING:
It is very important to remove all dust sucked into the
machine by the fans, as the welders are completely electronic.
Proceed as described to keep the machine in good working order:
• Periodic removal of accumulated dirt and dust from the inside of
the generator, using compressed air. Do not aim the air jet di-
rectly onto the electrical components, in order to avoid damag-
ing them.
• Make periodical inspections in order to individuate worn cables
or loose connections that are the cause of overheating.
TA4
The maintenance of this equipment is limited to the cleaning of the
inside of the frame and periodic inspection of worn cables or loose
connections. At regular intervals disconnect the welder from the
mains, take off the cover and use dry compressed air to remove
possible accumulations of dirt and dust. During this operation do
not direct the jet air onto electronic components. Check, that the
gas circuit is completely free from impurities and that the connec-
tions are tight and that there are no leaks. Carefully check that the
electric valve does not leak. Check the wire feeder rolls periodi-
cally and replace them when wear impairs the regular flow of the
wire (slipping etc).
TORCH
The torch is subjected to high temperatures and is also stressed
by traction and torsion. We recommend not to twist the wire and
not to use the torch to pull the welder. As a result of the above the
torch will require frequent maintenance such as:
• cleaning welding splashes from the gas diffuser so that the gas
flows freely;
• substitution of the contact point when the hole is deformed;
• cleaning of the wire guide liner using trichloroethylene or spe-
cific solvents;
• check of the insulation and connections of the power cable;
• the connections must be in good electrical and mechanical con-
dition.
SPARE PARTS
Original spare parts have been specially designed for our equip-
ment. The use of non-original spare parts may cause variations in
performance or reduce the foreseen level of safety. We decline all
responsibility for the use of non-original spare parts.
Remote controls and accessories
DIGITECH generators may be fitted out with various remote con-
trol systems and accessories such as:
Manual remote control RC172
Parameters normally controlled by the SYNERIC PARAMETER
ADJUSTMENT and ARC LENGTH ADJUSTMENT potentiometers
on the front panel of wire-feeder TA4 are controlled at a distance
when this control is connected.
WARNING:
Potentiometers must not be at maximum when us-
ing this remote control.
Air and/or water cooled up/down torch
The up/down torch completely replaces the SYNERGIC PARAM-
ETER ADJUSTMENT potentiometer on the front panel of wire-
feeder TA4 when welding with the SYNERGIC (SYN) or MANUAL
(MAN) procedures. The values of synergic welding parameters can
be adjusted by pressing the two keys on the right (+) and left hand
side (-). The ARC LENGTH ADJUSTMENT potentiometer on the
front panel of the wire-feeder TA4 must still be used to adjust the
length of the arc.
In the AUTOMATIC (AUT) type of work, pressing the two buttons,
right (+) and left (-), lists the previously set welding points and the
memorized welding sequences.
Push-pull torch
The push-pull torch improves aluminium wire movement, thanks
to a motor installed on it. Parameters normally adjusted with the
SYNERGIC PARAMETER ADJUSTMENT potentiometer on the
front panel of wire-feeder TA4 will now be adjusted by the
potentiometer on board this torch when it is connected up.
Torch with display (Digitorch)
The new Digitorches keep all information within easy reach. The
innovative microcontroller with display integrated into the grip al-
lows the main welding parameters to be displayed and adjusted:
• Current
• Thickness of material
• Wire speed
• Arc length
• Electronic inductance
• Memorised programme number
Press the up/down buttons, depending on the selected operating
method, to move from one programme to another or increase and
decreases the parameters on the synergic curves in use.
NOTE:
The digital control unit of the generator is fitted with a con-
trol recognition device which allows it to identify which device is
connected and take action accordingly. To allow the command rec-
ognition device to work correctly, connect (with the machine
switched off) the required accessory to the relative connector and
then switch on the welding machine with the on/off switch.
