TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSE
SOLUTION
Coff ee runs out around the
edge of the portafi lter.
Portafi lter is not inserted
into the group head
properly.
Insert portafi lter into the
group head and align with
‘LOCK’ on the group head
collar, until resistance is
felt. Refer to ‘Inserting The
Portafi lter’ part.
There are coff ee grounds
around the fi lter basket rim.
Clean any excess ground
coff ee from the rim of the
fi lter basket to ensure
a proper fi t into the group
head.
Too much ground coff ee in
the fi lter basket.
Refer to ‘Coff ee Dose
& Tamping’ part.
Ground coff ee has been
tamped too fi rmly.
Refer to ‘Coff ee Dose
& Tamping’ part.
Incorrect fi lter for amount of
ground coff ee used.
Ensure you use the 1 CUP
fi lter for 1 cup of coff ee and
the 2 CUP fi lter for 2 cups of
coff ee.
Coff ee drips from the
portafi lter spouts
The water tank is empty or
low.
Refer to ‘Filling The Water
Tank’ part.
Coff ee grind is too fi ne.
Ensure you use a suitable
espresso grind. Refer to ‘The
Grind’ part.
Too much coff ee in basket.
Refer to ‘Coff ee Dose and
Tamping’ part.
Machine is blocked by
mineral deposits.
Decalcify the machine. Refer
to ‘Decalcifying’ part.
Machine is making a loud
and continuous pumping
noise
Water tank is empty.
Fill the water tank.
Water tank is not securely in
place.
